Once a pipeline is more than a handful of steps, wait stops being enough. A wait is a barrier: nothing after it starts until everything before it finishes, however unrelated.

Explicit dependencies let you say what actually depends on what, so independent work runs in parallel. This module covers key and depends_on, the conditionals that decide whether a step runs at all, and how to read a step that did not run.
