New to Buildkite
For Developers writing their first pipelines
If you have just been handed a repository with a `.buildkite/pipeline.yml` in it and told to make a change, start here.
This path deliberately skips concurrency, agents and anything about infrastructure. You do not need them to be productive, and the most common early mistakes have nothing to do with them — they come from assuming that the order of steps in a file is the order they run in.
Modules, in order
1. Step types and pipeline structure 0/2 units
The step types Buildkite gives you, and why the order of a file is not the shape of a build.
2. Dependencies and flow control 0/2 units
Keys, depends_on, conditionals, and telling a broken step apart from a failed one.
3. Artifacts 0/2 units
Getting files out of a job, and into the next one.
